I just installed Microsoft Edge Insider browser, which is a chromium (V8) powered browser by Microsoft. In this post, I am going to walk you through to setting Google, Yahoo, or any other search engine as a default search engine on Microsoft Edge Insider browser.
Microsoft has released 3 Edge Insider channels, which are Canary Channel, Dev Channel and Beta Channel. For home users, I always recommend the Beta Channel, which is the most stable, reliable, and less vulnerable.

In case, Google does not appear in the list, simply open a new tab and go to www.google.com and perform a search then refresh the Address bar setting page now you should have Google in the list, select it and refresh or relaunch the Edge Insider browser.
